Two teens get plea deal in fatal carjacking in Washington, DC

Two teenagers accused of carjacking a vehicle belonging to an Uber Eats driver and then driving off as he desperately hung onto the door reportedly received a plea deal Monday.

The Washington Examiner reports that under the terms, the 13 and 15-year- old suspects will not have to serve any time beyond their 21st birthday or have to go to prison.

66-year-old Mohammad Anwar died shortly after being ejected from his vehicle in an incident captured on video.

The incident happened in Washington, DC on March 24.

The Daily Mail reports that two National Guardsmen pulled the girls from the overturned vehicle and held them until police arrived.

The Washington Post originally reported the deal was expected to be approved in the coming days last week.

Fox5 reports that Anwar was a husband and father from Virginia.

A Go Fund Me page set up for the family raised more than $1 million in just a matter of days.

The fundraiser described him as a  “hard-working Pakistani immigrant who came to the United States to create a better life for him and his family. He was simply at work , providing for his family, when his life was tragically taken in an appalling act of violence.”
