Yves Castonguay, 47, is accused of vandalizing the Chinese Cultural Centre in Vancouver, British Colombia on Keefer Street in Chinatown. The incident occurred in the afternoon of April 2, 2020.

Police says Castonguay wrote hateful, racist words on the Chinese Cultural Centre’s four large glass windows and incited hate targeting the East Asian community , according to Coast Mountain Views.

Castonguay failed to attend his court date on March 30. He was charged with one count of public incitement of hatred and one count of mischief to property, according to a Vancouver Sun report.

Police are asking anyone who knows his whereabouts to contact them. It is also urged anyone who experiences or witnesses a hate crime to call 911.
