Two former child actors who both played precocious kids in their careers announced the birth of their first child today.
Brenda Song and MacCaulay Culkin released a statement saying they “we’re overjoyed” at the birth of their son, Dakota Song Culkin, reported Esquire.
Dakota weighed in at 6 pounds, 14 ounces on April 5 in Los Angeles. He is named after Culkin’s sister Dakota who died in 2008 after being struck by a car at the age of 28, according to People.
CNN reports the couple met on the set of the movie Changeland where they both had roles.
In 2018, Culkin spoke about the couple’s relationship on the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, according to People.
“This one’s a good one, so I’m probably going to put some babies in her in a little bit,” he said jokingly. “I mean, we’ve definitely been practicing.”
“You can’t be around him and not be happy,” Song told Esquire last year about Culkin. She recalled fondly how he would bring her mother vegetable soup while she underwent cancer treatments.
