Ricky Amos, a convicted sex offender, allegedly followed an Asian woman into the garage of her home. Police say Amos approached the woman, spit on her face and yelled racist remarks at her.
The incident occurred Tuesday around 9:25 a.m. at Potrero Avenue and Everett Street. The victim called police after the suspect left the garage. Officers arrived and found the suspect nearby, according to a report by East Bay Times.
Amos will be charged with battery and vandalism in addition to a hate crime enhancement. Amos also faces charges for being out of compliance with sex offender registration requirements, according to CBS local.
Amos was arrested and has since been booked at the county jail in Martinez. He was held without bail at the Martinez Detention Facility.
