An unidentified assaulter stomped a 61-year-old Asian man multiple times on his head in East Harlem, N.Y. on Friday night, the New York Post reports. The victim, who did not carry identification, was left in critical condition with severe injuries.
According to police who were on the scene, the suspect attacked the victim while he was collecting cans and bottles in a shopping cart near an apartment building. The attacker shoved him onto the sidewalk and began to forcefully stomp on the elderly Asian man’s head, leaving him unconscious.
As of now, the police have not determined if the man was targeted due to his race.
