Rev Al Sharpton and actor/activist Danny Glover Thursday came to New York Chinatown to stand with the Asian American community against anti-Asian hate, reported AMNY.
“We need to be present, making their story, connecting their story to our collective stories of struggle. We got your back,” he told the crowd at a rally organized by leaders of the 1199SEIU union.
Sharpton took it one step further, condemning those in the Black community joining in the violence against Asians.
“There are some of us in the Black community that have become part of this hate, and we are not going to allow you to represent or misrepresent us. Blacks, Latinos, Asians, Hispanics-all of us need to stand together.”
He accused those who hate on Asians of being cowards and “acting like Trump.”
“You are a sell out and disgrace to our community,” he said, according to AMNY.
Hundreds were in attendance at the rally.
