June 1st marks the beginning of Pride Month, a month that celebrates visibility and equality for the LGBTQ+ community. Members of the AAPI community have begun their celebrations.

Activist and actress Margaret Cho spoke with the TODAY Show about her Pride Month. The interview is part of a TODAY series that will highlight LGBTQ trailblazers throughout pride month.

In the interview, Cho spoke about how her parents’ bookstore Paperbook Traffic helped introduce her to her LGBTQ idols. The bookstore was located in the Castro District, San Francisco’s LGBTQ neighborhood.

Cho posted on Twitter Tuesday morning to mark the beginning of pride.

Daniel Isaac, an actor, also posted on Twitter to celebrate pride month. He shared a photo of himself wearing a shirt with the word “Gaysian” on it.

George Takei wished everyone a happy pride on Twitter and promoted a new pride lego set.
