A 67-year-old Asian grandmother was rushed to the hospital after sustaining injuries during an alleged robbery in Boston, Next Shark reports.

The woman’s granddaughter, Annie, posted about the incident on Instagram. She says she received a call from her grandmother on May 23, around 10:18 p.m..

“She started speaking to me and I noticed that her voice sounded like she cried and was so weak,” Annie wrote in her post.

Her grandmother told her she was in the hospital, having been assaulted and robbed.

“I started bursting out in tears and was afraid that she would die,” Annie wrote. “My grandma is one of the most important people in my life. She took care of me all throughout my childhood and even now as I’m in college, making me soups and my favorite foods for me whenever I’m home for school.”

Annie says her grandmother was just a few feet away from her apartment near Washington St. and Northampton St. when her attacker punched her and tried to steal her purse.

Annie’s grandmother screamed and clung to her purse. Her screams alerted bystanders who chased the attacker off.

Annie says they’ve filed a police report but noted that not much is known about the attacker.

There is no evidence so far that suggests the attack is a hate crime. Annie told Next Shark that the attacker did scream something at her grandmother, but her grandmother does not speak English and couldn’t understand.

Next Shark contacted the Boston Police Department before publishing their story but has not heard from the department yet. There is no mention of the incident on the Boston P.D. Twitter page or directly on the department’s news website. However, the report does appear in the public records.
