“[She was] the most selfless person I’ve ever met in my life. [It’s] kinda hard to say, I’m a 52-year-old man and I was learning from an 18-year-old girl,” Albert Welsh said to NBC4. “Just an amazing kid.”

Welsh graduated salutatorian of her high school class in Glendora in May. Hundreds of people gathered at Glendora High for a memorial on Thursday, according to CBS2.

“Thank you for being the greatest girlfriend,” Nick Dergazarian said. “Sweet hometown girl who knew how to have fun in the simplest, easiest ways.”

Her father said when his daughter learned he had epilepsy, she went to a professor to find out how she could help with research to find a cure.

“She ultimately was able to contact an epileptologist,” her father said.
