San Francisco firefighter dies after fighting fire

The San Francisco Fire Department Tuesday announced the death of one of their own.

Christopher Yock died shortly after fighting a large fire in a parking structure at the San Francisco International Airport on June 8.

CBS5 reports shortly after returning home, Yock suffered a heart attack.

“With great sadness, we inform you of the death of Firefighter Christopher Yock,” the department said. “On Tuesday, June 8th, 2021, he passed away after fighting a large fire at the San Francisco International Airport parking structure.”

The fire on the fourth floor of the garage involved six vehicles.

According to KTVU, Yock was a 21 year veteran of the force. He spent most of his career working in a neighborhood fire station, but moved to the airport in 2019.
