On Thursday, San Francisco Police arrested a suspect involved in the beating of an Asian American UPS delivery driver, CBS SF Bay Area reports.
The suspect is 27-year-old Daly City resident Sean Doherty. Police believe he is the getaway driver. They arrested Doherty on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy and hit-and-run with injuries.
The attack occurred on June 3, a 40-year-old UPS delivery driver named Minh told police that he was robbed in the middle of the street in the San Francisco area, Bay Area Gazette reports.
Video shows the one suspect attempting to steal a package off of Minh’s cart. When Minh tries to get it back, the suspect punches him in the face in the middle of the street as he falls. He then jumps in a getaway car, which runs over Minh’s foot, without taking anything.
During the investigation of the case, the San Francisco Police Department issued a crime alert bulletin through a law enforcement database, CBS SF Bay Area reports. With this, authorities identified the wanted getaway vehicle. Police stated that the attached license plate did not match vehicle registration records. Inside the vehicle were several stolen license plates.
The other suspect who attacked Minh is still at large.
Because of the attack, Minh needed to undergo surgery for his missing teeth and now walks around with a crutch.
Minh says that he still feels awful with the injuries he is sustaining. His injuries prevent him from working. Minh is also the sole provider of his family of five which means that financial hardships are forthcoming.
To help support the family’s finances, Minh’s daughter, Tiffany, set up a GoFundMe page. The listed goal is currently set to $5,000, but the family has now raise over $20,000.
