Woman Who Started Petition to End ‘Spill Your Guts’ Receives Death Threats

The activist who started a petition calling on talk show host James Corden to end his “Spill Your Guts” segments is receiving death threats, New York Post reports.

Kim Saira, a 24-year-old Filipino Chinese American content creator and social influencer, launched the petition three weeks ago on change.org. The petition criticized “Spill Your Guts” for mocking food that Asian people regularly eat.

In the segment, guests must answer revealing questions about themselves to avoid eating what Corden and CBS deem as “gross” foods. The selection includes food regularly eaten by Asian people like balut, century-old eggs, and chicken feet.

The petition has received over 45,000 signatures, but Saira says hate and threats have also accompanied the support. She told TMZ that some detractors have sent her daily death threats via email and Instagram direct messages.

Her Instagram comments are also filled with hateful and racist remarks.

Corden’s apology left Saira disappointed. In a recent Howard Stern Show interview that Corden said he would adjust the segment and remove certain foods, according to The New York Post.

“We heard that story, and the next time we do that bit we absolutely won’t involve or use any of those foods,” Corden said in the interview. “As you said at the start, our show is a show about joy and light and love — we don’t want to make a show to upset anybody.”

Corden’s statement failed to specifically address the Asian community. Saira called it a “non-apology.”

“He put out a one-sentence statement. It really made me disappointed … I cried a lot about it,” she told TMZ.

She added that it left her wondering if he cared about the abuse she was receiving for criticizing the racism on his segment.
