Suspect Arrested in Death of Utah Woman

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of Masako Kenley from Sandy, Utah, KSL News Radio reports.

Officers arrested William O’Reilly, 75, on suspicion of aggravated murder, desecration of a body, and obstruction of justice

Kenley was last seen on Friday, July 2, and was reported missing on Saturday, July 3, ABC 4 reports. Officials found her body a few days later Kenley’s body in a heavily wooded area of 8900 S and 1000 W near the Jordan River with a gunshot wound to her chest.

“Kenley sustained two gunshot wounds, one was to her chest.  She also had multiple injuries that were consistent with an edged weapon,” Carriger told KSL News Radio. “She was shot and stabbed.  In this order, that has not been determined at this point.”

Police say call detail records and video surveillance footage showed Kenley and O’Reilly together on July 2.

According to ABC 4, O’Reilly told police he and Kenley were together in Salt Lake City miles from where her body was found. Police determined this statement was false. They say O’Reilly also removed a GPS tracking device from Kenley’s car.

Investigators say Kenley and O’Reilly are acquaintances, but they are unsure if Kenley met with O’Reilly willingly. She may have been taken against her will.
