Naomi Osaka lights Olympic torch in Tokyo at Opening Ceremony

Naomi Osaka had the honor of lighting the Olympic Torch as the 2020 Tokyo Olympics are underway.

She posted photos of herself during the ceremony on her Instagram account.

The torch bearers are generally kept a secret until the actual ceremony. In normal times, her appearance would have had a packed stadium in Japan rocking.

“Undoubtedly the greatest athletic achievement and honor I will ever have in my life,” she tweeted following the ceremony. “I have no words to describe the feelings I have right now but I do know I am currently filled with gratefulness and thankfulness love you guys thank you,” she wrote on social media.

The Olympics are sort of a coming out party for Osaka who pulled out of both the French Open and Wimbledon Tournaments to care for her own mental health issues.
