Jumanji’s Karen Gillan open to returning to Selfie with John Cho

Selfie may go down as one of the most popular shows that few people watched.

Karen Gillan who played alongside John Cho in the romantic comedy says she still gets tweets from fans who tell her how much she missed the show.

ABC cancelled Selfie after airing only 7 episodes and ended up streaming the remaining six that hadn’t yet aired.

“I am amazed at the lasting effects of Selfie,” she told Refinery 29. “I get just constant tweets saying, ‘I miss the show,’ and that is just so cool and amazing because I had such a good time doing it.”

Gillan has gone on to co-star in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle with Dwayne Johnson and its more recent sequel in 2019.

Despite her schedule, she thinks resurrecting Selfie would be a good idea.

“Yeah, it would be cool to revisit that. I don’t know if I like a full time full series, but I don’t know, maybe like some one off thing or like a shorter thing would be really cool.”

As for working with Cho again, she says “That would be great. We got along really well.”

Gillan isn’t the only person who thinks this would be a good idea. Mashable devoted a whole article to Selfie as late as October.

“It had engaging characters, good jokes, a consistent emotional arc, and (cannot emphasize this enough) smoldering hot chemistry between its romantic leads,” Alexis Nedd wrote.

Selfie is one of the few shows to feature an Asian American leading man. It’s demise sparked a social media backlash and a campaign to try to resurrect the program.

Could it be that almost seven years later, the idea could become reality?
