Sunisa Lee finished fifth in the women’s Olympic balance beam finals while being her opponent’s most vocal cheerleader, Insider reports.
Lee competed in the balance beam finals Tuesday night alongside her USA teammate Simone Biles, who returned to competition after battling with the “twisties.” Lee scored a 13.866, narrowly missing out on an Olympic medal. Biles scored 14.000, earning herself a bronze medal, People reports.
Videos of Lee cheering for Chinese gymnast Guan Chenchen during the competition went viral online, Insider reports. After finishing her own routine, Lee cheered and clapped for Guan as she performed.
“Come on!” Lee can be heard shouting in the background.
Lee responded to a video of herself cheering on Guan, stating “I love her sm.”
