Great grandma killed in hit and run in Los Angeles

Police in Los Angeles want the public’s help in capturing a cold blooded hit and run driver who surveillance video show stood above the body before taking off.

ABC7 News reports family members have identified the victim as 91-year-old Soon Kim.

“To die in such a horrific way – we were expecting the call at 91 years old that she had died peacefully in her sleep. To get that call (instead) is truly heartbreaking,” said her grandson Rich Henderson.

According to KTLA, Kim was walking across the alley using a walker when a truck backed up and hit her coming out of a driveway.

A $50,000 reward is being offered in this case.

“We understand that the woman that struck her is someone known in the neighborhood,” Susan Cho, the wife of one of Kim’s other grandsons, said. “People recognized the car and that she had sort of a regular routine of putting up mattresses and other things in the area … It gives us some hope that she may be found.”

Kim is remembered as a fiercely independent person who lived alone. Her family said she worked really hard to provide for them.

Anyone with additional information about the crash can call Officer Lopez Del Haro or Officer Pollard at 323-421-2500.
