Vlogger loses 267,000 followers after ticking off Filipinos

A popular video blogger accused of disrespecting Filipinos and their culture has seen a drop of 267,000 followers in just days, reports Esquire.

The week got off to a terrible start for Nas Daily’s Nuseir Yassin after the granddaughter of renowned Filipino tattoo artist Whang Od accused Nas Daily of perpetuating a scam in including an online class from her grandmother in its course catalog saying the class is not real, according to Rappler.

Things only got worse when chef and entrepreneur Louise Mabulo posted about her experience with Yassin two years earlier.

In a Facebook post, she said she watched him “Imitate and mock the local accent and language, vocalizing Tagalog-sounding syllabic phrases saying it sounded stupid. He repeatedly said that the people of my hometown (are) “poor” “farmers are so poor!” “why are Filipinos so poor?”

“He even joked at the start of the day that all he needed was to put “Philippines” in the title, and he’d rack in millions of views would and the comments would come flooding with brainless ‘Pinoy pride’ comments,” she wrote.

Nas Daily responded to Mabulo saying that “your story in the media is false and that there are no “200 farmers” that you work with, and there are no Cacao plantations that you don’t personally profit from.”

Whether the response is enough to stop the mass defection of followers remains to be seen.

His Facebook following is currently listed at 20 million.
