Jeremy Lin tests positive for COVID-19 in China

Jeremy Lin announced on Instagram that he’s tested positive for COVID-19.

Lin had returned to China where for his annual summer tour.

As part of coronavirus protocols, he had entered quarantine.

“Somehow, despite being vaccinated and having tested negative prior to departure twice, testing negative upon arrival and being really careful during travel, I tested positive for coronavirus during day three of my quarantine,” he wrote in his post.

He described his case as mild and said “I can’t imagine what it’d be like if I weren’t vaccinated.”

While getting vaccinated doesn’t guarantee someone will not test positive for the COVID variant, it greatly reduces your chances.

Healthline reports that according to the CDC, less than 0.01 percent of the 163 million fully vaccinated people have been hospitalized for COVID-19. That means the overwhelming majority of the COVID patients hospitalized are not vaccinated.

According to France24, Lin wrote on Weibo his diagnosis caught him by surprise.

“I was shocked and a little bewildered.”

Lin urged everyone to get vaccinated.

“PLEASE PLEASE go and get vaccinated! There are sooo many people around the world that would love to be vaccinated and it could be the difference between mild symptoms and something a lot worse. For those vaccinated, I know we’re all tired of dealing with COVID precautions but please continue to be careful!! These new variants are no joke and your health is so precious. We’re gonna get through this together.”

Lin is planning to return to play for the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association after failing to get signed by an NBA team.
