Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee hopes to become the next athlete to come away with the Mirrorball Trophy on Dancing with the Stars, reports ESPN.
Lee became one of two new contestants to be announced. The other is social media star JoJo Siwa. The rest of the field will be unveiled September 8.
The show’s 30th season is set to debut on September 20 on ABC.
Other athletes to win the competition include fellow gymnastic gold medalist Laurie Hernandez, football stars Emmitt Smith and Hines Ward along with speed skater Apolo Ohno and figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi.
Yamaguchi, Ward and Ohno are the only Asian Americans ever to win the competition. Yamaguchi is Japanese American, Ward is Korean American and Black American and Ohno is Japanese American and White.
All the Asian Americans who have won DWTS have been athletes.
Lee is the first Hmong American to compete for Team USA in the Olympics. She won the all-around Gold Medal in gymnastics and a bronze in the uneven bars and a silver in the team competition.
Lee is also the fifth American in a row to win the all-around gold. She rose to contention after Simone Biles dropped out for mental health reasons.
