New York Police Department officers escorted the daughter of a slain police officer to her first day of school on Monday, CBS New York reports.
Angelina Liu is the 4-year-old daughter of Detective Wenjian Liu. Det. Liu and his partner, Rafael Ramos, were shot to death in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant in December 2014.
At the time of the shooting Wenjian and his wife Pei Xia Liu had only been married three months, PIX 11 reports. Pei asked doctors to preserve Wenjian’s sperm.
Two years later, Pei became pregnant with Wenjian’s child via Invitro Fertilization. Angelina Liu was born on July 25, 2017. She is often described as an NYPD miracle baby.
On Monday, members of the 84th, 62nd and Brooklyn south precincts escorted Angelina to her first day of pre-school.
