Search intensifies for Lauren Cho in wake of Gabby Petito case

Authorities are ramping up their search in Yucca Valley, CA for a New Jersey women last seen three months ago, reports ABC7.

Police say Lauren Cho was last seen walking away from the home she shared with her partner. Rescue crews searched by air and ground, but found no sign of her.

KNBC reports the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department joined the rescue operation for the first time Tuesday even though Yucca Valley is in San Bernardino County.

Social media users have compared the little attention Cho has received to the case of Gabby Petito, a blonde social media influencer whose death has been widely covered by the media.

Authorities released a description of Cho.

“She’s 30 years old, she’s about 5’3″, she has black hair, brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a yellow t-shirt and jean shorts. So we’re hoping that will jog someone’s memory and help investigators,” said San Bernardino County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Gloria Huerta to KABC.

Anyone with information about Cho’s disappearance can contact Detective Edward Hernandez or Sergeant Justin Giles, Specialized Investigations Division, at (909) 387-3589. You can also leave a tip and remain anonymous by calling the We-Tip hotline at 800-78-CRIME (27463) or www.wetip.com.
