SNL has promoted Bowen Yang to its main cast for Season 47, Variety reports.
Yang previously served as a featured player on SNL. His work earned him a 2021 Emmy nomination. He is the first-ever featured player on SNL to receive an Emmy nomination.
Yang and Chloe Fineman have been promoted to the main cast amidst the announcement that their castmate Beck Bennett will be leaving the show, EW reports.
Yang began his SNL career as a writer in 2018. In 2019, he became the first Asian American SNL cast member. Over the past year, he has brought awareness to anti-Asian hate.
Season 47 of SNL will begin on October 2, featuring guest host Owen Wilson.
