Judge in Rittenhouse trial makes Asian food joke

An off-color remark from the judge in the Kyle Rittenhouse murder trial is causing a stir, reports the Daily Beast.

“I hope the Asian food isn’t coming.. isn’t on one of those boats from Long Beach Harbor,” said Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Schroeder before recessing the court for lunch.

The remark seemed to be a reference to the backlog of ships in California ports, but was taken by some as blaming Asians for the situation.

“It harms our community and puts us in the cross hairs of microaggressions as well as actual physical violence,” said John Yang, president and executive director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice-AAJC to CNN.

Many on Twitter considered the remark inappropriate.

As you might expect, others thought those offended should just lighten up.

  1. If anything, I think the judge gave a boost to Chinese cuisine. He wanted his Chinese meal and didn’t want it to be late! He loves Chinese food!
