Suni Lee Named Sports Illustrated Athlete of the Year

CATEGORIES

Suni Lee can now add “Sports Illustrated Athlete of the Year” to her list of accomplishments.

Sports Illustrated announced that Lee and Olympic swimmer Caeleb Dressel are the magazine’s athletes of the year on Tuesday. They were honored at The Sports Illustrated Awards.

When accepting the award, Lee encouraged people not to worry about how good they are at something before they start.

“The one thing that I would say would be you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great,” Lee said. “And I think that’s something that’s so important because people tend to get caught up in trying to live up to a standard.”

Lee thanked her supporters in an Instagram post.
