Raveena Aurora signs with Warner Records. New single out

Indian American R&B singer Raveena Aurora just released her new Bollywood-infused single, Rush.

The release coincides with the announcement that she has just signed with Warner Records.

Aurora busted out to national prominence in the music scene with her 2019 album, Lucid. According to NPR, she grew up in Queens raised by Sikh-practicing North Indian parents. Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Bollywood soundtracks dominated her playlist.

“The way she embraces her culture and blends it with her artistry is truly beautiful & unmatched,” wrote one fan in reaction to Rush.

“I hope Raveena knows how much she has done for the South Asian community in the West in terms of breaking down walls and giving us representation we’ve never had before in the western music industry,” said another.

Raveena co-directed Rush with director and photographer Munachi Osegbu, reported Rolling Stone. The publication describes Rush as a “Technicolor ode to Bollywood, which tells the story of a Punjabi princess traveling through space, and inspired by Indian percussion and an acid trip Raveena took.”

In a statement, Raveena said “I wrote ‘Rush’ a couple years back and the song was the genesis of me exploring a more intense marriage between Bollywood sounds and the pop/R&B music that I grew up on in America.”
