Transgender actress Ivory Aquino will star as Alysia Yeoh in “Bat Girl,” the first trans character in a DC Comic film, Deadline reports.
In the comics, Alysia Yeoh is a bartender and Barbara Gordon’s (Batgirl) best friend. The character first appeared in a 2011 issue of “Batgirl” written by Gail Simone, NBC News reports.
Aquino will star alongside Leslie Grace, who will play Batgirl/Barbara Gordon. The film also stars J.K. Simmons, Brendan Fraser, Michael Keaton and Jacob Scipio.
Aquino posted her own announcement on Instagram and thanked her fans.
