Celebrate the Year of the Tiger with the Model Majority Comedy Troupe’s annual Lunar New Year show. The show will be a virtual live show this Saturday, February 19th at 9pm EST/PM PST.
Admission is free with a suggested donation to National Geographic’s Big Cats Initiative. Participants need to register at https://www.modelmajority.com/ to receive a private link to this special event. A replay of the live show will be available through the end of February.
Model Majority is the first comedy team of its kind in New York producing original and new sketches for every show written by, directed by, and starring some of the funniest and most talented Asian Americans in New York and LA.
“Think Asian SNL. Our goal is to fight stereotypes, increase positive Asian representation and explore comedic themes rarely seen in mainstream media but widely understood. Model Majority brings a fresh and honest perspective to the New York comedy scene,” said founder Veronica Dang.
Model Majority has been featured in various press outlets such as New York Times, TimeOut NY, AsAmNews, South China Morning Post, Cityguide and at comedy festivals around the country. Team members have appeared in TV/Film incl. SNL, Comedy Central, Tracy Morgan’s The Last OG, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Ken Jeong’s I Can See Your Voice, Blue Bloods, Step Up 3, Blacklist, Ray Donovan, Law & Order: SVU; Broadway shows, UCB, and top comedy clubs. Model Majority has been featured in several comedy festivals, including NYC’s SketchFest and Asian-American International Film Festival, Chicago’s World Comedy Expo, Jersey City’s Comedy Festival, North Carolina Comedy Festival and more.
The show features Model Majority’s acclaimed comedic talent performing original sketches written exclusively for the show with a focus on Lunar New Year traditions and all things tiger-related. “Tiger Woods” and “Tiger King” are expected to attend. There will also be special appearances by rising stand up comics.
The show link will allow the audience to interact via chat with Model Majority team members during the show.
