Missing student found dead on side of the road in a ditch

The Fresno County Sheriff Department has identified the body of a young man found in an overturned car in the ditch in Central California as a missing University of San Francisco student.

ABC7 News reports that the body has been identified as Chris Liang, a 21-year-old who’s been missing since Monday when he went on a road trip in a rented Tesla.

Liang’s older brother sent out a plea via Instagram in a since-deleted post for information about Chris’ whereabouts.

“I’m trying to prevent myself from going to think about too many ‘what ifs’ like maybe I should have posted on social media earlier, what if my brother’s out there incapacitated,” said Jerry Liang to CBS5 before authorities found his brother.

The California Highway Patrol said the accident happened sometime between Monday and Saturday, but did not know when.

Jerry posted a heartfelt video on TikTok that has been viewed more than 500,000 times hoping someone had information about his brother on Friday.

“I’m honestly terrified, desperate and also numb about what has happened,” Jerry said. Chris never made it to Irvine in Southern California to see his friends as scheduled. Nor did he return to class which Jerry described as uncharacteristic.

Jerry said he is Chris’ only relative in America.
