A man has been arrested after a 41-year-old Asian man was slashed in the face with a razor on the subway in New York City Sunday morning, New York Daily News reports.
According to a tweet from ABC7 New York reporter Cefaan Kim, the 41-year-old was on a subway train approaching Delancey Street station in the Lower East Side.
Around 8:22 a.m. man slashed the Asian man on the left side of his face.
“He didn’t say anything,” the victim told New York Daily News. “He walked past me and then he cut my face.”
The victim also said he chased his attacker down because he wanted him to get caught.
Transit police arrested 40-year-old Brendan Dowling in connection with the attack, Daily Mail reports. He has been charged with second degree assault and evidence tampering.
The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force has been notified about the incident.
