A GoFundMe campaign to support a man stabbed ten times in Los Angeles Chinatown has raised $15,000 in just one day.

According to his brother David, a transient attacked William Yu in broad daylight. The two wrestled to the ground, but the suspect managed to stab Yu as many as 10 times in the face neck, and head.

ABC7 reports that when police arrived, David said his brother had the suspect pinned to the ground despite his severe injuries.

My brother was just walking to the store. Literally, just minding his own business, and someone comes up with a knife, and literally tried to kill him. Thank goodness he’s a strong guy. He defended himself,” David told the station.

KTLA reports that police arrested 50-year-old Timothy Meirs. He faces a mayhem charges and is being held on 100,000 bail.
