Emergency crews pulled a man suspected in a violent carjacking in Chinatown out of the Boston Harbor Thursday, reports Universalhub.
Authorities say the man jumped into a car and drove away, dragging its owner for several feet before escaping.
“I wanted to stop him from stealing my car,” Wei Wu, 64, told CBS4.
The carjacker then drove to Commercial Street along the Boston Harbor before police say he jumped into the water.
Officers fished the man out and Emergency Medical Services took him to a local hospital. It wasn’t until later that investigators identified a car in the area as the one stolen. Using surveillance photos, they identified the man in the water as the carjacking suspect and arrested him on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and carjacking.

Wu told CBS4 he had just started up his car after spending the day as he normally does selling oranges. That’s when a man jumped in and stole his vehicle. He suffered serious injuries to his face and hand.
“The guy stole his car and then he went to catch it and the guy slammed the door on his face on this side,” Gloria Zhu, Wu’s ex-wife.
Wu is well known in the area and is described as a hard worker who sells fruit during the day and works in a restaurant at night.
