Priyanka Chopra hosts pre-Oscar event celebrating South Asian artistry

Priyanka Chopra Jonas co-hosted a pre-Oscar event Wednesday to celebrate South Asian excellence in the entertainment industry. Other industry-leading hosts will include Mindy Kaling, Kumail Nanjiani, Anjula Acharia, Bela Bajaria, Maneesh K. Goya, and Shruti Ganguly, according to Vogue.

The event started at 5 p.m. and ran for approximately three hours.

India Today reported Chopra Jonas wore a long black saree which accentuated what the publication called her “envious curves.”

The Hindustan Times highlighted fan reaction to her fashion choice. “Wowww my God Amazing,” commented one. Another wrote, “Wow a saree. Pri looks hot.” Another fan said “She looks, beautiful gorgeous mommy.”

UTA, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, Johnnie Walker, South Asian Arts Resiliency Fund of the India Center, and the Juggernaut are sponsoring this event to celebrate South Asian talent on film, the Hollywood Reporter wrote.

The guest list also included prominent South Asians Suroosh Alvi, Pawo Choynung Dorji, Joseph Patel, Rintu Thomas, Sushmit Ghosh, and more. Vogue reports that Thomas and Ghosh, who are the co-directors of Writing With Fire that has become the first full-length Indian documentary to be shortlisted for the Oscars, to be the stars of the celebration for tonight.
