Suspect identified in fatal stabbing at Chinatown gambling den

Police identified the suspect accused of fatally stabbing a rival to death in a New York City Chinatown gambling den.

Officers say Shin Bing Weng, 55, stabbed the victim, Qi Rui Weng, 58, to death with a large kitchen knife, according to the New York Post. Investigators believe the stabbing occurred after a quarrel inside the underground social club on Division near Orchard Street.

The police said the two men are not related, the NY Daily News reports.

The stabber attacked the victim with a knife into his chest at around 4:30 p.m. at 125 Division Street.

New York Post reports that sources said the suspect had obtained the two knives used in the stabbing from a neighboring kitchen supply store before returning to the underground gambling den through a door that connects the two buildings.

The surveillance video released by the police shows the attacker walking with a knife in his right hand before the stabbing, according to the Daily Mail. The suspect was filmed at the San Jiang Trading, the kitchen supply store.

The victim was found in the bathroom with a large knife in his torso and another smaller knife by his chair, the New York Post reports. The victim was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved, the police said.

The suspect remains at large.
