Freelance writer Thor Benson says he walked up to a man he thought was conservative journalist Andy Ngo and told him he’s a “garbage person.”

However, Ngo says it wasn’t him.

Ngo is the controversial conservative journalist whose coverage of Antifa and Muslims has been questioned for being misleading.

Benson’s work has appeared in The Atlantic, Wired, Rolling Stone, The Daily Beast, and NBC News among others.

Benson tweeted “I just ran into Andy Ngo at a bar in New Orleans. I politely told him he’s a “garbage person.” Lol.” The tweet has been liked more than 2300 times and retweeted more than 150 times.

However, Ngo claimed on Twitter Benson targeted the wrong man.

However, Benson isn’t backing down from his original tweet. It remains up more than three days later and two day after Ngo claimed Benson accosted another Asian man.

The back and forth has generated support for both Benson and Ngo.
