Remembering the 8 killed in the FedEx shooting one year ago

AsAmNews stands with the victims and their surviving families of the FedEx shooting one year ago today in Indianapolis.

Among those killed were four members of the Sikh community.

Those whose lives were cut short are Amarjeet Johal, 66; Jasvinder Kaur, 64; Jaswinder Singh, 68; Amarjit Skhon, 48; Matthew R. Alexander, 32; Samaria Blackwell, 19; Karlie Smith, 19; and John Weisert, 74.

On July 28, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) concluded their investigation into the shooting. They determined that the shooter’s violent actions were “an act of suicidal murder,” and that there was “no indication of racial bias.” The Sikh Coalition is outraged saying authorities made this determination despite the fact that the attack was planned on a place with a majority-Punjabi workforce, and that the shooter did have white nationalist content on his computer.

“We remain extremely disappointed that the IMPD and FBI never detailed how they ruled out bias as a possible motive in their investigation,” the group said.
