Alexander Wang to return after sexual assault allegation

Alexander Wang, 38, is to make a fashion comeback after a two-year hiatus following sexual assault allegations.

His new collection titled Fortune City will be on the runway in Los Angeles Chinatown on April 19, according to Input Magazine. His fall 2022 collection pays homage to his Chinese American heritage.

Wang is also planning a party to present his pre-fall and fall 2022 collection. The Fortune City event will be open to the public and the media, and is to include a night market and live music.

The event will be hosted in a partnership with Chinatown Corporation, a historic preservation site organization, to celebrate Asian American history and culture.

Wang has been in the shadows for a few years as he became a subject of sexual assault allegations from multiple models such as Owen Mooney and Gia Garrison, Input Magazine reports. Multiple models accused Wang of attempting to get people intoxicated and groping and assaulting them. These allegations quickly came to surface after a viral TikTok video by Mooney describing Wang as a “massive sexual predator.”

Wang initially denied these claims in January 2021, but on Monday he posted another statement on his Instagram saying that although they “disagree on some of the details,” he regrets acting in certain ways that caused potential victims pain, reported Insider.

“I’ve listened carefully to what they had to say,” Wang wrote in the statement, referring to those who accused him of sexual assault. “It was not easy for them to share their stories, and I regret acting in a way that caused them pain.”

“While we disagree with some of the details of these personal interactions, I will set a better example and use my visibility and influence to encourage others to recognize harmful behaviors,” Wang added.

For this season, Wang hired Liang Xiaoqing as his new muse. Nextshark reports Liang to be China’s favorite “auntie model” who rose to fame as a Taobao model.
