AsAmNews honored by AAPI Legislative Caucus

The AAPI Legislative Caucus Saturday honored Asian American and Pacific Islander journalists for their work in bringing attention to anti-Asian hate.

Assemblymember Evan Low, who chairs the AAPI Legislative Caucus, presented journalists at a luncheon in San Jose with commendations for their work.

Low awarded a Certificate of Recognition to AsAmNews for “uplifting Asian American and Pacific Islander visibility and voices in the face of xenophobia and increased anti-Asian violence.”

AsAmNews founder and editor Randall Yip accepted the award from Low. Yip took the time to thank the Caucus for successfully pushing through a budget package of $160 million for AAPI community groups, including $10 million for ethnic media.

Also on hand was Kevin Lee, AsAmNews’ IT specialist who also accepted an award for his work with the Chinese-Vietnamese American-led blog site, Go Inspire Go, which was founded by Toan Lam.

This is the third honor received by AsAmNews this month as part of Asian American Pacific Islander and Native Hawaiian Heritage Month.
