Three Asian women identified as victims of fatal car crash

After leaving a Sweet 16 birthday party, three women were killed in a car crash at The Inn in New Hyde Park, New York late Saturday.

The victims identified were Marlene Lu, 66, Ho Hua, 68 and Tu Nguyen, 41, said ABC 7 New York.

The crash happened when alleged drunk driver Dante Lennon, 66, hit his 2012 Mercedes-Benz into a 2010 Lincoln Town Car which had the women inside. Police blame both alcohol and speeding for the fatalities.

The three women weAll three women died at the scene.

Three men also inside the car suffered injuries. Doctors released a 73-year-old man after treating him for neck and back pain while another man, 67, fractured his clavicle and sustained shoulder injuries. The third man, 42, fractured his ribs.

Lu was the grandmother of the girl who was celebrating her birthday with Hua being the host’s aunt and Nguyen was a cousin.

Lu and Hua were from Woodside, Queens, and Nguyen was from North Carolina.

“Very disturbing, never seen that ever in my life,” witness Jaylen Augustin said to ABC 7. “I just hope — why would that happen, I just can’t believe it.”

News 12 Long Island reported that authorities arraigned Lennon at the hospital on Monday. He faces DWI and vehicular manslaughter charges.

According to police, while Lennon’s blood-alcohol level was over the legal limit, they do not have information on the exact number.
