A documentary on Jeremy Lin’s sensational Linsanity stint with the New York Knicks will air on HBO, reports Deadline.
The cable network made the announcement as the basketball star is planning to play with actor Simu Liu in a celebrity charity game to raise money for his foundation.
38 at the Garden will make its premier at the Tribeca Film Festival this coming Sunday. Then its scheduled to make its cable debut on HBO later on a still to be announced date.
Sports Illustrated says the film will focus on Lin’s 38 point game against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers in a nationally televised game on February 10, 2012.
“In a hostile time for Asian Americans, the revisiting of an unlikely athlete’s story 10 years later gives hope and shatters stereotypes on sport’s biggest stage,” the film’s synopses reads.
The film is moderated by Hasan Minhaj and will feature interviews with comedians Ronny Chieng and Jenny Yang along with journalists Lisa Ling and Pablo Torre.
Also appearing will be Knick’s teammates Tyson Chandler and Iman Shumpert.
Also this week, Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings‘ star Simu Liu announced he would be playing in a charity basketball game with a dozen Asian American other celebrities, athletes and personalities, in July, reported Insauga.
Proceeds of the game put on in Toronto by the Canadian Chinese Youth Athletic Association will take place next month.
