You may find it difficult to find Sriracha on your store shelves this summer.
Huy Fong Inc is warning its customers it anticipates a major shortage as a pepper shortage has forced it to shut down production, reports CNN Business.
“Unfortunately, we can confirm that there is an unprecedented shortage of our products,” the company saidB. “We are still endeavoring to resolve this issue that has been caused by several spiraling events, including unexpected crop failure from the spring chili harvest.”
Bloomberg says the letter from one of the world’s largest producer of the product goes on to blame “weather conditions affecting the quality of chili peppers”
Some customers responded by saying they would bulk buy their favorite sauce just in case it runs out.
