The sequel to Crazy Rich Asians may be coming sooner than later.
AsAmNews spoke briefly with Constance Wu while she is on tour to promote her new upcoming series on Amazon prime, The Terminal List, co-starring Chris Pratt.
“Well, I actually just had lunch with John Pinotti, one of the producers, a few weeks ago because he wanted to talk to me about gearing up and getting ready to film Crazy Rich Asians 2. So yeah, the wheels are moving,” Wu told AsAmNews.
The original made $238 million at the box office worldwide. That’s a lot of ticket buyers and you can bet, they’re looking forward to the follow up.
Production has been stalled due to many other commitments director Jon Chu had before anyone realized Crazy Rich Asians would be such a huge hit.
That coupled with prior commitments from stars Constance Wu, Henry Golding and Michelle Yeoh has delayed production. On top of that, writer Adele Lim dropped out of the sequel over a pay dispute.
The long wait will hopefully be over soon.
In the meantime, you can look forward to Constance Wu on Amazon Prime’s Terminal List. That debuts July 1.

Hope they can finally cast the original crazy rich Asian girl, Brenda Song, who played spoiled rotten, super rich, London Tipton, in disney’s Suite Life on Deck but was rejected for acting too white which later producers of CRA denied! Also can cast Jamie Chung and Simu Liu who expressed interest but were supposedly rejected for being too asian?
Yay! Finally!😊
