CBS News anchor and former MSNBC dayside host Alex Wagner will rejoin MSNBC as their new 9 p.m. host.
Wagner will replace Rachel Maddow and serve as the host four days a week, CNN reports.
MSNBC president Rashida Jones said Wagner was the “clear choice.”
“Alex Wagner in the 9 p.m. hour was a clear choice. Her unique perspective—built on more than two decades in journalism—and tenacious reporting in the U.S. and abroad will help our audiences contextualize what matters,” Jones said in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I am looking forward to watching Alex thrive in MSNBC’s primetime lineup.”
The Burmese American hapa journalist graduated from Brown University in 1999, The New York Times reports. She has worked as a reporter for The Atlantic, as a co-host of the Showtime political docuseries “The Circus” and as a cultural correspondent for the Center for American Progress.

Maddow will continue to host her own show for an hour on Monday nights and cover breaking news, CNN reports.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wagner’s first day as host will be August 16.
