During an exclusive interview with Geo News, former first lady and secretary of state Hillary Clinton endorsed Pakistani-American and Democrat candidate Dr. Asif Mahmood for California Congress.
Clinton called Asif her friend whom she knows for two decades in the endorsement.
“One of the greatest qualities of Dr. Asif is that he has never sent anyone back home for not being able to pay fees,” Clinton said to Geo News. “Therefore, if a man like Asif becomes a member of Congress, he will make every possible effort for the interest of Americans.”
According to Asif’s campaign website, he is a pulmonologist and doctor of internal medicine. He and his family have lived in Southern California since 1999.
He is also endorsed by California Governor Gavin Newsom and U.S. senators Cory Booker, Alex Padilla, Tim Kaine and Bob Menendez.
The midterm elections for Congress are in November.
