MMA fighter thought of mom before stopping alleged attacker

MMA fighter Ro Malabanan is speaking out after stopping a man who allegedly attacked six people in New York. Malabanan told The New York Post he thought of his mom before stopping the attack.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Malabanan can be seen pinning 28-year-old Samuel Frazier to the ground. He explains later that he allegedly saw Frazier punch someone when he got off the subway on Broadway and Prince. Malabanan chased after the suspect and eventually pinned him.

According to The New York Post, the first victim Malabanan saw Frazier allegedly punch was an older individual. Malabanan told the Post he thought of his mother as he went to stop Frazier.

“The main thing that spurred me into action was the fear that he may actually hurt another person. What popped up in my mind was my parents because they’re older,” he said.

He also told the Post he was reluctant to get involved because he was afraid he might get in trouble.

“He could reverse the situation and press charges on me. All these things were going through my mind,” Malabanan said.
