Rededication ceremony for LA Chinese American Museum held

by Ti-Hua Chang, AsAmNews Contributor

On August 13th several dozen supporters and Asian American elected officials held a rededication ceremony at the Chinese American Museum of Los Angeles. $3 million has been raised to renovate and expand the interior exhibition spaces. The building is owned by the City of Los Angeles and is all that is left of the original Chinatown. It was leveled in 1933 to build the Union Train Station.  Several participants noted the Museum has become an important symbol of Chinese American heritage and AAPI influence.
