On Friday a jury convicted Jeffrey Morris, 62, of murdering professional poker player Suzie Zhao.
According to the Oakland Press, Zhao’s remains were found on July 13, 2020, at Pontiac Lake State Recreation Area parking lot in White Lake Township, Michigan. She had been sexually assaulted, bound with zip ties and set on fire.
The trial began on October 3. Prosecutors presented video footage they said shows Morris’ car passing by a house after 2 a.m. on July 13, 2020 about a half-mile from the murder scene. They also presented evidence on Morris’ phone that showed thousands of saved images involving violence against Asian women.
Poker News reports that Oakland County City Court jury deliberated for less than an hour before reaching a verdict. Morris was found guilty of felony murder and second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to FOX 2, Morris faces life in prison. His sentencing hearing will be held on November 10.
