Steven Kwan’s phenomenal form could get the Cleveland Guardians over the line against the New York Yankees.
On Saturday, the Guardians went up two games to one in their American League Division playoff series. The winner of the series would advance to the American League championship series, which serves as a semi-final to the World Series.
Kwan, a left fielder for the Guardians, was at the center of the team’s offensive success on Saturday. He scored two runs and had an RBI in the team’s 6-5 win over the Yankees. According to The Chronicle-Telegram, he finished the night 3-for-5 at bat. The MLB Network said in a tweet that Kwan is 6-for-14 (.428 BA) overall in this series.
After the game, Kwan praised his teammate Oscar González who drove in the winning run, calling him “the goat.”
The Guardians take on the Yankees again today at 4 p.m. PST in Cleveland. If they win, they will advance to the American League championship series.
