Ronny Chieng and Chloe Bennet have joined the cast of Hulu’s “Interior Chinatown,” Variety reports.
Hulu announced the series earlier this month. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it will be directed and produced by Taika Waititi. Comedian and actor Jimmy O. Yang will star as the show’s lead.
The series is based on a novel of the same name by Charles Yu. It follows Willis Wu (Yang) who is stuck playing background characters in a police procedural called Black & White. As he struggles to find his way into the large story, he uncovers family secrets.
Chieng will play Fatty Choi, Willis’ best friend. Variety provided a character description of Fatty from the series:
“Unlike Willis, Fatty is much more comfortable with who he is and he’s content with his life working at the restaurant, drinking, hanging out, and being the sidekick in the story.”
Bennet will play Lana Lee, a new detective on Black & White who brings a different energy to the series.
“Exuding competence and an air of mystery, Lana represents everything Willis has dreamed of: success, a possible love interest, and a bigger role in the story,” a description of Lana reads, according to Variety.
