Award-winning Broadway icon Lea Salonga teams up with American acapella group Pentatonix for a new rendition of the Yuletide classic Christmas In Our Hearts.
GMA Network reports that the song was originally written and performed by Diamond-certified Filipino artist Jose Mari Chan. According to Rappler, the song cover is featured in Pentatonix’s sixth and newest album, Holidays Around The World.
In an Instagram post, Salonga said she “had the most wonderful time recording this classic Filipino Christmas song with Pentatonix.”
Manila Bulletin reports that other notable Asian musicians featured in the album are Chinese pianist Lang Lang, Lebanese singer Hiba Tawaji, Indian vocalist Shreya Ghoshal, and Japanese artists HIKAKIN & SEIKIN.
Christmas in Our Hearts is available on streaming platforms worldwide. Listeners commend the cover’s “effervescent harmonies and powerhouse vocals,” as reported by PhilStar Global.
With the release of Holidays Around The World, Pentatonix will embark on tours across the United States and then to Singapore and Japan in March 2023.
